iCloud may not work with Notability if you're using macOS Yosemite (10.10) or El Capitan (10.11) but haven't upgraded to iCloud Drive.

If your Apple ID is still using the old iCloud (i.e., not iCloud Drive), this may keep Notability for Mac from connecting to iCloud. This can happen if you haven't upgraded your Apple ID account to iCloud Drive and are using Yosemite (10.10), or El Capitan (10.11). The only apps that work with iCloud in this scenario are Apple's—Photos, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Safari, Notes, and Keychain. Third-party apps such as Notability can't sync unless you update to iCloud Drive or use a version of macOS released before Yosemite, such as Mavericks (10.9).
