On iPad

Typing notes

  1. Tap to enter typing mode.
  2. Tap the screen to place the cursor on a line. This will also show the keyboard.

Highlight text in typing mode

  1. Tap to enter typing mode.
  2. Double-tap a word to select it. Drag the selection handle to expand the selection. Tap Highlight in the menu.
  3. To change the highlight color or to remove a highlight, tap a highlighted word and make your selections from the popover.

This method works for text that you type and for text in PDFs.

Keyboard toolbar

This toolbar provides easy access to essential typing tools.

  • Tap to select a font. For a larger list of fonts, tap "More Fonts..." in the window.
  • Tap to change color.
  • Use to pick or adjust font size.
  • Tap to select an outline type..
  • Use to style fonts.

Preset font styles

Access up to three different styled fonts quickly.

  1. Tap to set up a new font style.
  2. To change a preset font, tap and hold .

Customizable toolbar

The keyboard toolbar is customizable, which allows for the most commonly used tools to be immediately accessible.

  • Tap and hold on the toolbar to reveal the entire tool list. Tap and hold on a tool to drag it on and off the keyboard toolbar. This tool list includes outline with bullets , outline with numbers , cursor controls , and recents .

On iPhone

Typing notes

  1. Tap the currently selected tool to display the other available tools.
  2. Tap to select the typing tool.
  3. Tap the screen to place the cursor on a line and show the keyboard.
  4. Tap to close the keyboard.

Keyboard tools

The provides easy access to essential styling tools.

  • Tap to select a font or change the font color. For a larger list of fonts, tap "More Fonts..." in the window.
  • Use + and – to or the slider to adjust font size.
  • Tap A, B, or C to select that preset font.
  • To change a font color, tap the currently selected font, then tap .
  • Tap to return to the keyboard.

Outlines

Tap to take notes in outline form. Choose from either bulleted or numbered outline styles.

Photos

Tap to take a photo or add a photo from an album to your note.
