Outlines help you quickly navigate through notes with imported PDFs. After importing a PDF with a table of contents, Notability automatically detects and displays the document’s headings and sections. This makes it easier to browse and move between sections, especially in longer or more detailed documents. Outlines are available on iPad, iPhone, and Mac. 

View outlines

1. Open a note that contains a PDF.
2. Select to open the Content Manager. 
3. Select Outlines from the dropdown menu at the top of the Content Manager. 

Use outlines

1. Jump to a section: Tap any heading on the outline to go directly to that part of the document.
2. Expand or collapse sections: Tap the arrow (>) next to a section to show or hide its subsections (for example, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4).
