Auto-Backup (Mac)

Auto-Backup gives you peace of mind by keeping a copy of your notes stored safely in a cloud service of your choice.

Turning on Auto-Backup

  1. Click "Notability > Preferences..." at the top of your Mac's screen.
  2. Click "Auto-Backup" in the window that appears.
  3. Click the circle next to the cloud service you'd like to use: Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, or Box.

If your devices are synced through iCloud, Auto-Backup can only be used on one synced device at a time.

Changing Auto-Backup's File Format

By default, your notes will be Backed up as PDFs. To use a different file format:

  1. Open Auto-Backup's preferences.
  2. Click the menu to the right of "Format".
  3. Click the file format you'd like to use.

Note format includes everything in a note: audio, handwriting, typed text, sticky notes, images, web clips, figures! All content is fully editable when you import the note back into Notability.

Changing Auto-Backup's Destination Folder

By default, your notes will be backed up to a folder named "Notability" in your chosen cloud service. To back up notes to a different folder:

  1. Open Auto-Backup's preferences.
  2. Click "Change..." to the right of "Destination".
  3. Navigate to the folder you'd like to use.
  4. Click "Set Destination".
