Audio Transcripts

With Audio Transcripts, you can review time-stamped text of your note's audio recordings, search through transcripts to see exactly what was recorded at the time that it was recorded, and copy/paste transcript text directly into your notes. 

Transcriptions are unavailable in China and Hong Kong.

We are constantly enhancing the quality of our transcription system! Although previously processed files may not always receive the latest enhancements, your newly recorded files will always receive the highest quality of transcripts.

These types of recordings will transcribe well:

  • High-quality audio
  • Lectures
  • Single-speaker clips
  • Single-language clips

These types of recordings may not transcribe as well:

  • Low-quality audio
  • Movie or theater audio
  • Multi-speaker clips
  • Mixed-language recordings

View your Transcripts

  • Open a note with an audio recording. 
  • Tap on page manager icon.pngand select Transcripts.
    • Transcripts are split up based on time—tap on a segment and the recording will jump to that timestamp. 
    • While manually scrolling through a transcript, a Current Time button will appear. Tap on the button and it will scroll to the active segment (so that the transcript segment and currently playing audio timestamp matches). 


What about my privacy?

Your privacy is extremely important to us. We do not access, listen to, or review the audio recordings beyond the automated transcription process or share the audio recordings with any third parties for any purpose without your consent except as required to fulfill our legal obligations under applicable law. In particular, we do not use your data to train AI models. For more details, check out our Privacy Policy.

How can I use Audio Transcripts?

Unlimited transcripts are available to Notability Plus subscribers. 

Starter and Classic plans include 1 hour of transcriptions.

Do Audio Transcripts require an internet connection?

Yes, audio will be processed when the device is connected to the internet. 

Will background processing cause my app to lag or freeze?

Processing should have minimal performance impact. If you notice anything unusual related to this, contact our Support and we can assist further.

Audio Transcripts is stuck Processing and won't complete. 

Disabling Safe Mode will allow your audio to finish processing into transcripts. 

Can I opt out?
